Guard Our Children filed as a Michigan grassroots Super PAC on September 9, 2016. The purpose of the PAC is to stand against the harmful objectives of the LGBTQ movement and support candidates who have the courage to put the best interests of Michigan children above the special interests of the LGBTQ movement. The PAC was started in response to the Michigan State Board of Education's proposal of an LGBTQ Guidance Policy. After an outpouring of comments from those opposed and those in favor, the six Democrats on the State Board of Education all voted to pass the policy and the two Republicans voted against it.
Guard Our Children believes the LGBTQ Guidance Policy will lead to the marginalization of students whose religious beliefs hold that homosexual behavior is immoral. Second, the recommendation of LGBTQ resources for children confused with their gender identity or sexual orientation will more likely lead them to adopt an LGBTQ identity and a lifestyle with increased health risks. Third, the transgender aspect of the LGBTQ Guidance Policy will undermine children's safety and privacy in restrooms and locker rooms, and allow biological males to compete in girl's sports and other gender specific activities. Fourth, another problem lies in the fact that there is no requirement in the policy to let parents know what information the school is giving their children.
Guard Our Children opposes the LGBTQ movement's effort to add "sexual orientation, gender identity and expression" into Michigan's Elliott Larsen Civil Rights Act. History has shown that once these terms are added to a nondiscrimination policy or civil rights law, LGBTQ activists will use these policies and laws to bully, marginalize, harass, demonize, and attempt to financially destroy those opposed to their worldview.
